Health Requirements to Travel Between Asuncion and Brazil

As of October 5th 2021, all passengers traveling to Brazil must comply with certain requirements related to COVID-19 test and forms detailed below.

FROM ASUNCIÓN FLORIANOPOLIS/RIO DE JANEIRO:  Applies to all passengers (Brazilian citizens included)

  • Valid Identity Document.
  • Negative COVID-19 Test: All passengers must present a negative RT-PCR test performed maximum 72 hours prior to departure or present a negative COVID-19 antigen test performed maximum 24 hours prior to departure. The test must be submitted in Portuguese, Spanish or English.

Exceptions:

  • Travelers under the age of 2.
  • Children under the age of 12 who are traveling with a companion are exempt from presenting a COVID-19 test if all companions present the required negative/non-reactive COVID-19 tests.
  • Note: Children aged 2 or over and less than 12 years old who are traveling unaccompanied must present proof of the negative/non-reactive COVID-19 test.
  • Passengers who have had COVID-19 in the last 90 days, are asymptomatic and persist with a positive RT-PCR test, must present:
    1. Two positive RT-PCR tests at least 14 days apart, with the last one performed within 72 hours prior to flight departure
    2. Negative antigen test, after the last positive RT-PCR test
    3. Medical certificate stating that the person is asymptomatic and able to travel, including the date of travel. The certificate must be issued in Portuguese, Spanish or English and contain the identification and signature of the responsible physician
  • Present an international vaccination card against yellow fever (the vaccine must be applied at least 10 days before the trip).
  • All passengers must complete the Electronic Traveler’s Health Declaration 72 hours prior to flight departure found in the following link: https://formulario.anvisa.gov.br. It will be requested in print or digital form during Check-In.

Failure to comply with the requirements may result in denied boarding.


FROM FLORIANOPOLIS /RIO DE JANEIRO- ASUNCIÓN:  Paraguay citizens and residents in Paraguay

  • Valid Identity Document.
  • MANDATORY: All passengers 12 years of age and older who are fully vaccinated, must present a negative RT-PCR, LAMP or NAAT test for COVID-19 taken no more than 72 hours prior to arrival or negative antigen test taken no more than 24 hours prior to boarding. Passengers vaccinated against CoVID-19 must prove that they were vaccinated with a certificate or vaccination card issued by the health authority of the country of origin. Passengers are considered fully vaccinated if they have completed 14 days of the last dose of the full schedule.
  • MANDATORY: All passengers 12 years of age and older who are NOT fully vaccinated, must present a negative RT-PCR, LAMP or NAAT test for COVID-19 taken no more than 72 hours prior to arrival or negative antigen test taken no more than 24 hours prior to boarding.
  • All passengers must complete the traveler’s health form 24 hours prior to flight departure at http://dgvs.mspbs.gov.py/webdgvs/views/paginas/vista_viajeros_nor.html. The negative test result must be attached. Once the form is submitted, this will generate a QR code that must be presented during Check-In.
  • All passengers aged 12 years and over, vaccinated and unvaccinated, are required to take a second COVID-19 test 5 days after the first COVID-19 test taken before departure(Day 1 is fulfilled 24 hours after taking the sample) at an authorized laboratory by the Central Public Health Laboratory. Exemption: Passengers coming from MERCOSUR member countries and associated countries (Chile, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Guyana and Suriname) will not be required to present this second test.
  • All passengers 12 years of age and older who are NOT fully vaccinated are subject to isolation for up to 5 days in their homes, hotels or residence. After completing 5 days of the first COVID-19 test taken before departure (day 1 is fulfilled 24 hours after taking the sample), all passengers must undergo another RT-PCR test in a public or private laboratory authorized by the Central Public Health Laboratory. If the result is positive, passengers must be quarantined for another 7 days. Quarantine must take place in a hotel, hostel or declared residence.
  • Passengers must bring a replacement mask since upon disembarkation the health authorities will request that it be discarded to enter the airport
  • Passengers who have had COVID-19 must present positive COVID-19 ARN, RT-PCR, LAMP, NAAT or Antigen test issued at least 14 days and maximum 90 days prior to flight arrival. Presenting a new negative COVID-19 test after arrival will not be necessary for these passengers.

 

RUTA FLORIANOPOLIS /RIO DE JANEIRO- ASUNCIÓN:  non-resident foreigners

  • Valid Identity Document.

  • MANDATORY: All passengers 12 years of age and older who are fully vaccinated, must present a negative RT-PCR, LAMP or NAAT test for COVID-19 taken no more than 72 hours prior to arrival or negative antigen test taken no more than 24 hours prior to boarding. Passengers vaccinated against CoVID-19 must prove that they were vaccinated with a certificate or vaccination card issued by the health authority of the country of origin. Passengers are considered fully vaccinated if they have completed 14 days of the last dose of the full schedule.
  • MANDATORY: All passengers 12 years of age and older who are NOT fully vaccinated, must present a negative RT-PCR, LAMP or NAAT test for COVID-19 taken no more than 72 hours prior to arrival or negative antigen test taken no more than 24 hours prior to boarding.

  • All non-resident foreigners must present international travel insurance that guarantees assistance in case of suspicion or confirmation of COVID-19. Exceptions: National passengers and residents of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay, and Venezuela, as well as children up to 18 years of age, of parents of Paraguayan nationality are excepted to present travel insurance.
  • All passengers 12 years of age and older who are NOT fully vaccinated are subject to isolation for up to 5 days in their homes, hotels, or residence. Transit passengers in Asuncion:

Passengers in transit via Asuncion are allowed to stay at the airport for a maximum of 24 hours, when there is an agreement between airlines.

Passengers in transit via Asuncion, who are NOT fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and when there is no agreement between airlines, will be allowed to stay at the airport for a maximum of 24 hours through a permanence permit to be granted by migrations authorities. In order to obtain this permission, passengers must present their connecting itinerary, and a negative RT-PCR, LAMP or NAAT test for COVID-19 taken no more than 72 hours prior to arrival or negative antigen test taken no more than 24 hours prior to boarding.

Passengers in transit via Asuncion, who are NOT fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and who´s connecting time between flights exceeds 24 hours, will be denied boarding their flight at the point of origin.

Passengers in transit via Asuncion, who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, will not be required to obtain a permanence permit. Passengers must prove that they were vaccinated with a certificate or vaccination card issued by the health authority of the country of origin. Passengers are considered fully vaccinated if they have completed 14 days of the last dose of the full schedule.

 

Failure to comply with the requirements may result in denied boarding.
