Health Requirements to Travel Between Asuncion and Buenos Aires

These are entry restrictions that each government sets for travelers. We recommend you to thoroughly read the current restrictions, not only before purchasing the ticket, but also in the days prior to the flight since they can constantly change. The passenger is responsible for having the necessary documentation to make the trip

FROM ASUNCION TO BUENOS AIRES:  Argentine citizens and residents in Argentina

 

  • Valid Identity Document.
  • All passengers, authorized to enter the national territory, must complete an Electronic Affidavit 48 hours prior to boarding the flight. This form is available in the following link: https://ddjj.migraciones.gob.ar/app. After submitting your application, a copy of this Electronic Affidavit will be sent to your email inbox which must be presented at the time of checking in for the flight at the airport.
  • All passengers are required to present a negative result RT-PCR test taken 72 hours prior of the scheduled arrival time of your flight to Argentina, calculated from the moment the test was taken. Those under 6 years of age are exempt from pre-entry testing.
  • All passengers who meet the following criteria are exempt from quarantine:
  1. Fully vaccinated passengers who present a vaccination certificate that evidences complete vaccination at least 14 days before arrival. Passengers who were vaccinated in Argentina must present a vaccination certificate registered on the applicationMi Argentina. Passengers who were vaccinated abroad must have a vaccination certificate validated by the country that carried out the vaccination. The vaccination status must be completed in the Online Affidavit.
  2. Fully vaccinated passengers are exempt from quarantine but required to present a negative RT-PCR test result taken 72 hours before arrival to the country.

Unvaccinated minors will also be exempted from the mandatory isolation period. However, it is recommended that they do not carry out group activities or attend group or mass events during the first 7 days from their arrival in the country.

  1. All passengers will be required to present another negative result of the RT-PCR test on their fifth or seventh day of stay in the country. Travelers must note that expenses on testing will be paid by them.
  • All passengers who are NOT fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at least 14 days before entering Argentina with vaccines authorized in their country must comply with the mandatory isolation:
  1. All non-vaccinated nationals and residents are required to perform a COVID-19 antigen test upon arrival at their own cost. Those who test positive must then perform the PCR test for genomic sequencing, as indicated by the National Reference Laboratory.  Those who have a positive result, and their close contacts must comply with the isolation in the places provided by the corresponding authorities. The costs of this stay will be at the

 

expense of the passenger.

  1. All non-vaccinated passengers are required to quarantine upon arrival. These passengers are required to quarantine for 7 days or more until completing 10 days computed from the time the pre-arrival RT-PCR test sample was taken. Authorities may request mandatory quarantine in isolation areas designated by the government to passengers coming from abroad regardless of their pre-arrival negative test result and at their own expenses.
  1. All non-vaccinated passengers are required to perform a COVID-19 RT-PCR test on the seventh day of their stay as a condition for the termination of the self-isolation period. The costs of both tests and the accommodation will be at the passenger’s expense.
  • Passengers who have had COVID-19, confirmed by a lab test within 90 days of arrival to the country, will not need to take a PCR test again. Instead, they will need to show evidence of their diagnosis by a positive RT-PCR test result taken 90 days before arrival and a medical discharge issued at least 10 days after the positive test was obtained.
  • Exemptions of isolation for non-fully vaccinated non-resident foreign nationals, as long as they comply with the sanitary protocols determined by the authorities, may be granted to:
  1. Diplomats and officials exclusively to fulfill an official mission.
  2. Athletes only in cases of sporting events.
  3. Those travelling to carry out professional or business activities who may only be granted entry by the corresponding authorities.
  4. Nationals or foreigners in transit to other countries with a stay of less than 24 hours in national airports.
  5. Passengers younger than 18 years of age. These passengers are recommended not to carry out group activities or attend group or massive events during the first 7 days from their arrival in the country.

FROM ASUNCION TO BUENOS AIRES:  non-resident foreigners

 

  • Valid Identity Document.
  • From November 1st 2021, the entry of non-resident foreigners will be allowed for all activities, including tourism, provided they meet the following requirements:
  1. Being fully vaccinated. Argentina considers fully vaccinated those passengers who present a vaccination certificate that evidences complete vaccination at least 14 days before arrival. The vaccination status must be completed in the Online Affidavit.
  2. To present a negative result RT-PCR test taken 72 hours prior of the scheduled arrival

 

time of your flight to Argentina, calculated from the moment the test was taken. Those under 6 years of age are exempt from pre-entry testing.

  1. Fully vaccinated passengers, who are allowed to enter the country, are exempt from quarantine. However, it is required to present another negative result of the RT-PCR test on their fifth or seventh day of stay in the country. Travelers must note that expenses on testing will be paid by them.   3. In case the passenger is NOT fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and does not meet the requirements for the quarantine exemption previously mentioned, he/she will not be allowed to entry for tourism and may only be granted entry for the following reasons: family reunification, work or health purposes, when expressly authorized by the National Directorate of Migration. All non-vaccinated passengers are required to quarantine upon arrival and to perform a COVID-19 RT-PCR test on the seventh day of their stay as a condition for the termination of the self-isolation period. The costs of both tests and the accommodation will be at the passenger’s expense.
  • Return ticket.
  • All passengers are required to present a negative result RT-PCR test taken 72 hours prior of the scheduled arrival time of your flight to Argentina, calculated from the moment the test was taken. Those under 6 years of age are exempt from pre-entry testing.
  • All passengers who meet the following criteria are exempt from quarantine:
  1. Fully vaccinated passengers who present a vaccination certificate that evidences complete vaccination at least 14 days before arrival. The vaccination status must be completed in the Online Affidavit.

  • All passengers, authorized to enter the national territory, must complete an Electronic Affidavit 48 hours prior to boarding the flight. Passengers in transit in Argentina:

Argentina allows nationals or foreigners in transit to other countries with a stay of less than 24 hours in national airports.

It is the passenger’s responsibility to comply with the health and documentation requirements for entering the city of their destination.

Failure to comply with the requirements may result in denied boarding.

 

FROM BUENOS AIRES TO ASUNCIÓN:  Paraguay citizens and residents in Paraguay

  • Valid Identity Document.
  • MANDATORY: All passengers 12 years of age and older who are fully vaccinated, must present a negative RT-PCR, LAMP or NAAT test for COVID-19 taken no more than 72 hours prior to arrival or negative antigen test taken no more than 24 hours prior to boarding. Passengers vaccinated against CoVID-19 must prove that they were vaccinated with a certificate or vaccination card issued by the health authority of the country of origin. Passengers are considered fully vaccinated if they have completed 14 days of the last dose of the full schedule.
  • MANDATORY: All passengers 12 years of age and older who are NOT fully vaccinated, must present a negative RT-PCR, LAMP or NAAT test for COVID-19 taken no more than 72 hours prior to arrival or negative antigen test taken no more than 24 hours prior to boarding.

 

  • All passengers must complete the traveler’s health form 24 hours prior to flight departure at http://dgvs.mspbs.gov.py/webdgvs/views/paginas/vista_viajeros_nor.html. The negative test result must be attached. Once the form is submitted, this will generate a QR code that must be presented during Check-In.
  • All passengers must complete an Electronic Affidavit 48 hours prior to boarding the flight. This form is available in the following link: https://ddjj.migraciones.gob.ar/app. After submitting your application, a copy of this Electronic Affidavit will be sent to your email inbox which must be presented at the time of checking in for the flight at the airport.
  • All passengers aged 12 years and over, vaccinated and unvaccinated, are required to take a second COVID-19 test 5 days after the first COVID-19 test taken before departure(Day 1 is fulfilled 24 hours after taking the sample) at an authorized laboratory by the Central Public Health Laboratory. Exemption: Passengers coming from MERCOSUR member countries and associated countries (Chile, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Guyana and Suriname) will not be required to present this second test.
  • All passengers 12 years of age and older who are NOT fully vaccinated are subject to isolation for up to 5 days in their homes, hotels or residence. After completing 5 days of the first COVID-19 test taken before departure (day 1 is fulfilled 24 hours after taking the sample), all passengers must undergo another RT-PCR test in a public or private laboratory authorized by the Central Public Health Laboratory. If the result is positive, passengers must be quarantined for another 7 days. Quarantine must take place in a hotel, hostel or declared residence.
  • Passengers must bring a replacement mask since upon disembarkation the health authorities will request that it be discarded to enter the airport
  • Passengers who have had COVID-19 must present positive COVID-19 ARN, RT-PCR, LAMP, NAAT or Antigen test issued at least 14 days and maximum 90 days prior to flight arrival. Presenting a new negative COVID-19 test after arrival will not be necessary for these passengers.

 

FROM BUENOS AIRES TO ASUNCIÓN:  non-resident foreigners

  • Valid Identity Document.
  • MANDATORY: All passengers 12 years of age and older who are fully vaccinated, must present a negative RT-PCR, LAMP or NAAT test for COVID-19 taken no more than 72 hours prior to arrival or negative antigen test taken no more than 24 hours prior to boarding. Passengers vaccinated against CoVID-19 must prove that they were vaccinated with a certificate or vaccination card issued by the health authority of the country of origin. Passengers are considered fully vaccinated if they have completed 14 days of the last dose of the full schedule.

Exceptions: National passengers and residents of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay, and Venezuela, as well as children up to 18 years of age, of parents of Paraguayan nationality are excepted to present travel insurance.
  • All passengers 12 years of age and older who are NOT fully vaccinated are subject to isolation for up to 5 days in their homes, hotels, or residence. Transit passengers in Asuncion:

Passengers in transit via Asuncion are allowed to stay at the airport for a maximum of 24 hours, when there is an agreement between airlines.

 

Passengers in transit via Asuncion, who are NOT fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and when there is no agreement between airlines, will be allowed to stay at the airport for a maximum of 24 hours through a permanence permit to be granted by migrations authorities. In order to obtain this permission, passengers must present their connecting itinerary, and a negative RT-PCR, LAMP

 

 

 

or NAAT test for COVID-19 taken no more than 72 hours prior to arrival or negative antigen test taken no more than 24 hours prior to boarding.

 

Passengers in transit via Asuncion, who are NOT fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and who´s connecting time between flights exceeds 24 hours, will be denied boarding their flight at the point of origin.

Passengers in transit via Asuncion, who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, will not be required to obtain a permanence permit. Passengers must prove that they were vaccinated with a certificate or vaccination card issued by the health authority of the country of origin. Passengers are considered fully vaccinated if they have completed 14 days of the last dose of the full schedule.
